Where to buy your essential items for halls

By UALHalls 15 Sep 2022

There are lots of things to remember to bring to halls on your first day. However, don't worry – you don't need to buy everything before you move in. This article will guide you to the places where you can buy all your essential items.

Pre-order your hall essentials before you arrive

If you want to take the hassle out of buying and travelling with all your stuff, you can order ALL your essential items with our partner's UniKitOut AND have them delivered straight to your halls' bedroom for when you arrive.

This is a super convenient way of saving you the hassle of having to bring lots of things with you (and paying for extra luggage if you're flying over). It also means you won't have to do a big shop when you get here, leaving you more time to socialise with your new hall mates!

UAL students receive a 10% discount with the code UAL10.

Order your halls essentials now.

Archwood House and Gardens House

Just near the top of Rye Lane, you have an Argos, Morrisons, Poundland, and Primark (which has a great home section). Wander on a bit further, just past Peckham Rye station, and the iconic Khan's Bargain will be sure to have everything you need.

Brooke Hall and Portland House

From the Collect+ store on Camberwell New Road, you can Click & Collect from a range of stores including ArgosH&M HomeIkea, and John LewisPoundland in Denmark Hill, as well as the Morrisons, are also great for the smaller items that you need.

Cordwainers Court

If you walk up Mare St towards Hackney Central Station you will find a Tesco Superstore and a Primark where you should be able to find your university halls essentials.

Emily Bowes Court

Tottenham Hale Retail Park is a 7-minute walk away from Emily Bowes Court. Here, you will discover a Wilko, a TK Maxx and an Asda Living. If you walk to Tottenham Hale Bus Station you can get the 192 bus to Glover Drive Ikea

Furzedown Student Village and Cedars Hall

If you get the bus into Streatham you will find a Tesco Extra and an Argos where you can pick up all the things you will need. Alternatively, head to Tooting Broadway where there is a Wilko and a TK Maxx

Glassyard Building

Amazon stocks everything you will need for halls and your parcel can be delivered directly to the Glassyard Building Amazon lockers. Alternatively, in Brixton, there is a TK Maxx, an Argos, and a British Heart Foundation Furniture & Electrical store. You can also check out the Brixton market

Highline Building

For cupboard essentials and cooking utensils, DistriAndia is a great independent store (that also sell fresh Plantain) and is perfect for picking up anything from furniture to kitchen appliances. You can also try Nova Furniture  for more unique pieces. Alternatively, for a bit of everything, there is a TK Maxx a direct tube away!

Highline building also has Amazon Lockers just a three minute walk away where your Amazon parcels can be delivered to.

Westfield, White City Shopping Centre is the best place nearby to buy all your essentials. To get there, hop on the Central line from North Acton to White City. Some of the stores we recommend there are John Lewis, M&S, H&M Home and Primark.

Wigram House

There is an Argos in the Sainsburys on Wilton Rd. Or, travel one stop on the Circle line from Victoria to Sloane Square where you will find the large department store, Peter Jones and Partners
