6 places to check out around Brooke Hall

By UALHalls 04 Apr 2023

Brooke Hall is the perfect place to be if you like some peace and quiet, with the ability to wake up to birds chirping outside your window.

Situated 7 minutes away from Camberwell Green, it provides you with access to a busy and resourceful main road along with the luxury of a calm neighbourhood. It is nearest to Camberwell College of Arts and a short bus ride away from London College of Communication and Chelsea College of Arts.

One of our students, Radhika, has compiled a list of her favourite places to check out if you're at Brooke Hall.

1. Walk - Myatt’s Field Park🚶🏽‍♀️

The hall is located a minute away from Myatt's Field Park, an award-winning park where you will always find little puppies playing with each other. It is the perfect place to refresh yourself from a busy week of assignments and soak in the sun during spring.

The park committee also organises events for its local community which you can check out on their Instagram page and participate in.

2. Live Music and Events - Dash the Henge 🎶

On your way to Camberwell Green you can hang out at Dash the Henge, a record store which has lots to offer for anyone who enjoys music and art.

From live music events to funky merchandise, this place provides a great vibe to socialise in and grow your personal music collection.

3. Deli and Bakery - Gladwell’s London 🥯

Hidden behind the chaos of the main road is this adorable place which not only offers local organic produce but the chance to order delicious snacks and a beverage to work on your project in their café.

The minimalistic yet bohemian aesthetic creates a calm atmosphere which helps you focus on your work without being too distracted.

4. Café’s ☕️

Of course, there are numerous fast-food chains around the area, but whenever you are out on a walk around Camberwell, you can be assured of finding local cafés which suit your mood.

1. Starting with the Little Cat Café right inside Myatt’s Field Park which has the frothiest coffee I have ever had. It is ideal if you enjoy some fresh air with your morning coffee or tea. Not only is the menu affordably priced, but they also provide a student discount!

2. Along that route, you can also stumble upon a cosy Annapurna Café which proudly serves regular local customers and has inventive new dishes on the menu with which you can experiment.

3. Rerouting towards Denmark Hill via Camberwell, you will come across Love Walk Café, which has a great menu if you are looking for a scrumptious brunch over the weekend. (Vegan friendly options available as well!)

5. Gym - PureGym 🏋🏽‍♀️

Fancy a workout in your daily routine?

There is a PureGym conveniently located on the route to and from college, which also offers student memberships. They have various features depending on term time so you can find a membership most suitable to your needs.

6. Shopping 🛍

You will never run out of options when it comes to restocking your pantry or self-care collection.

Camberwell has shops like Morrisons, Lidl, Tesco Express, Superdrug, Poundland and Co-op located right next to each other. From bedding and groceries to skin care and room décor, everything is available here.

There is also a convenience store called Camberwell Daily, only five minutes away with great ramen options to fulfil those typical midnight cravings.

Lastly, if you are looking for a Tesco Superstore, it is just a short bus ride away towards Vauxhall.
