We're always striving to improve our food and drink offering at your College, which is why we reviewed every response from last year's survey to help shape this year's food and drink offer.
From lowering everyday prices to stocking more functional drinks, here is how we turned your voices into real changes across our canteens and cafés starting this September.
You asked for: Better matcha and gut-health drinks
We did:
- Introduced 'PerfectTed' matcha - a more premium-grade matcha powder for a richer and smoother brew.
- Replaced Fix8 with One Living, bringing in probiotic drinks with exotic flavours - including gut-boosting vegan kombucha using naturally sourced ingredients full of B vitamins that you can find in our Grab and Go fridges (they even use mushroom extract in some flavours for even more vitamins!)
You asked for: Hydration and protein on the go
We did:
- Added Moody - low-sugar, functional, electrolyte sodas you can find in our Grab and Go section, made to feel un-functional, full of sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium for great hydration.
- Stocked Nick's Protein Wafers - with 10g of protein per bar in a range of unique flavours on our café counters to keep you fuelled between lectures.
You asked for: More affordable hot drinks and snacks
As we have had to increase some of our pricing of certain products slightly this year, we have made sure you still have plenty of budget-friendly options to choose from.
We did:
- Added Radnor sparkling flavour water - a low-cost and tasty way of rehydrating throughout the day, available from our Grab and Go fridges.
- Cut the price of our classic sausage rolls - vegan and meat options now available from just £2.30!
- Added budget-friendly seasonal drinks - we capped our full, new tea collection at under £3 to keep your everyday hot drinks affordable, with special tea blends in our cafés changing every term.
- Added a range of hot and ambient savoury snackse - including pizzas, samosas, and filled croissants, served at selected cafés and available at the café counter and//or in hot cupboards.
- Expand our Pay It Forward initiative - our community-driven student support initiative will be introduced across all UAL cafés this October, letting you pre-pay a drink for a peer or claim a free hot drink when you need a boost.
- Are keeping the price of water at £1.70 - so you can stay hydrated for the same price.
These updates are proof that your feedback drives actual change at university. Whether you are grabbing a seasonal, budget brew between classes, picking up a half-price meal at the end of the day, or using a Pay It Forward token in October, your survey responses made it happen.
So keep telling us what you want to see next by:
- Using the feedback vinyls located in the seating areas of our canteens and cafés
- Speaking to us in person
- Looking out for the next survey sampling tour
