Run an event in your hall, sponsored by Halls Life

Have an event idea? Get support & funding to make it happen

Halls Life wants to support students in creating fun, engaging, and inclusive activities for fellow residents throughout Term 2. If you have a great idea for an event you'd love to run in your hall, this is your chance!

‘Sponsored by Halls Life’ is our new scheme, giving you the chance to submit an event proposal and receive support and budget from us to help bring your idea to life.

Whether you're passionate about arts and crafts, celebrating culture through food, or creating opportunities for residents to connect in a way we haven't explored before, we'd love to hear your ideas.

What types of events can I suggest?

We're looking for events that help build community and encourage students to get involved. Some examples include:

🎨 Craft and creative workshops

🫂 Collaborative community projects

🍽️ Culture-specific food and celebration nights

🌿 Wellbeing and social activities

👾 Games and interactive events

💡 Skill-sharing sessions

We're particularly keen to hear ideas that showcase your interests, skills, cultures, and communities, helping us offer experiences that wouldn't otherwise be part of the Halls Life programme.

What's less likely to be chosen?

As funding is limited, priority will be given to events that offer something different from activities already delivered by the Halls Life team and are unique, community-focused activities. This means we are less likely to approve:

  • Generic social events that could easily be delivered by the Halls Life team
  • Event concepts without a clear student-led element or community benefit
  • Duplicate proposals for the same activity unless a clear new angle is demonstrated
  • Watching films or movie nights (unless these are student-made!)
  • Events taking place outside of halls locations
  • Activities that are not inclusive or accessible to all residents

A few things to remember

Your event should be respectful, welcoming, and inclusive for all residents.

Think about how your event will help students connect and feel part of the halls community.

The application form will remain open throughout November.

After reviewing all submissions, the Halls Life team will be in touch at the end of November/early December to let you know whether your event has been approved and what the next steps will be.

We can't wait to hear your ideas, and to help bring them to life in Term 2! 🎉
