Gift a hot drink and make someone's day

There is something about a warm cup of tea or coffee that does more than just provide a caffeine boost. It gives a moment to pause and can be a small comfort in the middle of a busy day.

That's why we're teaming up with the Arts SU's Student Basic Needs Project to trial the Pay It Forward initiative at Central Saint Martins from Monday 13 April. An initiative to make support feel normal and accessible to all, with the help of the supportive UAL community. 

How it works

For a donor 🎟️

When you visit the café to grab your own drink, you now have the opportunity to purchase an additional, anonymous 'Pay It Forward' drink. 

This includes a comforting English breakfast tea or filter coffee for just £1.60. 

This will then be kept at the counter to be redeemed by a fellow student who needs it most. 

• It's simple: Just ask the barista to "Pay It Forward" when you place your order. 
• It's anonymous: You'll be given a card to place on the dedicated board at the counter. If you'd like, you can also leave an anonymous message. 
• It's direct: Your £1.60 goes straight toward brightening someone else's day. 

For a donee ☕️

• Look for the donation cards: You will find a dedicated board on the café counter with donation cards where someone has already paid forward a drink for you to take when you need it. 
• Redeem your drink: Bring one card to the barista to redeem your free hot drink. Choose from an English breakfast tea or filter coffee. 
• Kindness goes a long way: If you can, pass it on next time you are at the café. 

Both processes are easy, and if you do have any questions you can always ask the baristas at the counter. No fuss and no labels, just one student or staff member looking out for another.

We all know that London is one of the most expensive cities in the world, and we want everyone to enjoy the small luxuries during their studies.

So let's work together to make small of acts of kindness have a big difference, and show how supportive our community is ❤️
