After the success this academic year (2023/24), with a rebrand and restructure of the events and wellbeing programme for each hall, there will continue to be a committee per hall for 2024/25, with some slight amendments in roles! 👩🏽💻
Committee size is dependant on hall, but halls committees work closely with the main Halls Life team, to bring you amazing events and wellbeing initiatives in your hall! 🥳
Committees at each hall will now be made up of an Event Lead, Communications Lead and a Community Lead. These positions are only eligible to people who will/want to live in UAL Halls of residence as of 2024/2025. 🏡
We are looking to offer positions in the following halls: Highline Building, Glassyard Building, Sketch House, Cordwainers Court, The Costume Store, Gardens House, Portland House, Archwood House, Brooke Hall, Stratford One and Furzedown/Cedars.
The deadline for applications for all 3 roles is 27th May.

1. Event Lead 🎪📝
The Events Lead will be responsible for creating and delivering weekly events for the students living in their halls.
They will have support from the rest of the committee, but will be primarily responsible for the event planning and management of events internally.
You will be the initial communicator between your committee and the Student Experience team: Sending and responding to emails promptly and arranging meetings, regarding all matters around events.
Throughout your time as Event Lead, you will gain a strong understanding of your halls, through collecting event feedback and taking note of how events are received. As you gain such knowledge, you will have acquired yourself confidence and understanding to plan and manage your events as a committee, with the Student Experience team here to support you.
Some of the duties and responsibilities include:
- Creating and delivering an events programme to enhance the student experience in halls;
- Supporting students with concerns or issues they may experience in halls;
- Being flexible in supporting external events to halls with the Student Experience Team;
- Be the first point of contact for students at events, with a welcoming/friendly energy;
- Being enthusiastic, passionate, and respectful to all students and staff members.

2. Communications Lead 📠 🗣️
The Communications Lead will be responsible for creating and delivering promotional and marketing campaigns around the halls for the weekly events that take place for the students.
They will be expected to gain a strong understanding of their halls, in terms of who their events should be reaching out to.
They will have support from the rest of the committee but will be primarily responsible for the communication and promotion of an event, including social media, Halls Life website, Eventbrite and physical marketing (posters and A boards). Photography of events as they take place play a crucial part in ensuring attendee numbers for your events remain consistent. Your role will have strong influence on the messaging and branding of your events, ensuring this is UAL compliant and accessible.
There may also be times within your role where your skills of promotion/marketing can be utilised by the Student Experience team at events external to your hall, offering further work opportunity throughout the year.
Some the duties and responsibilities will include:
- Creating an accessible, fun and welcoming events schedule for all students living in your accommodation;
- Creating web content for hallslife.arts.ac.uk and Eventbrite to market internal hall events;
- Forming strong relationships with students and site team in your accommodation so you are able to spotlight and shout about all the amazing things students are doing on our UAL platforms;
- Writing and publishing content according to our brand style and tone of voice;
- Producing social media content that is relevant and up to date with current trends at UAL and the wider world.

3. Community Lead 🏘️
The Community Lead will be responsible for the development of student related wellbeing activity across their halls. They will support in the upkeep and development of the Here4U programme within Halls Life.
Alongside this they will inform the Event Lead on key cultural celebrations events, awareness dates , history months and initiatives linked to equality, diversity and inclusion into the events programme across the hall. They must ensure that committee activity remains inclusive and diverse at all times.
They must be of an empathic nature and be in tune to students needs within their halls. They will liaise closely with the Student Experience Team and in particular the Student Wellbeing Coordinator on matters relating to improvements of wellbeing in the hall.
Some of the duties and responsibilities will include:
- Purchasing, restocking and developing our Here4U free offerings across halls;
- Work with Event Lead to create and deliver an inclusive and diverse events programme. Focusing on history months, awareness days and other EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) activity;
- To support students with concerns or issues they may experience within halls and create problem solving resolutions with key staff members to ensure students are supported;
- Liaise closely with the Student Experience Team and in particular the Student Wellbeing Coordinator;
- Working with the Communications lead in the committee to ensure communications and promotions are up to date and in line with the universities policies.
