Here’s your go-to guide for every LGBTQIA+ event this month!

It's time to celebrate because it’s LGBTQIA+ History Month during February in the UK 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✨

From an Art of Drag Showcase, to a Queer Bus Tour around UAL Colleges, to a Queer Icons Balls, there’s not shortage of Queer Pride happening in our halls and London this month.

Here’s our spectacular guide below of all the Halls Life Events, Halls Committee LGBTQIA+ Events and External Events happening across London during LGBTQIA+ History Month.

🏡 HALLS LIFE EVENTS 🏡

🟣 4th February, 5pm to 9pm – Art of Drag Transformation Showcase, The Rising, Elephant & Castle 

We are thrilled to invite you to join us for the Art of Drag Transformation finale at The Rising, minutes from Elephant & Castle station and LCC! Come cheer on our amazing students at this event, plus receive a free drink, as they showcase four weeks of learning with the Halls Life team and our fabulous queen, Eileen Eiffel. 💅 

🟠 17th and 18th February – Big Queer Bus Tour, various UAL Colleges 

All aboard the open top, Big Queer Bus Tour! 🚌 Join us on February 17th-18th (9am to 6pm) as we explore London's LGBTQ+ history, love & liberation. We will be stopping at multiple UAL colleges across the city to give students and staff the opportunity to interact with the many creative activities and exhibitions on board! 🏳️‍🌈 

🟡  18th February, 12pm-1pm - Talk on LGBTQIA+ and Trans+ Resilience in a Divided World

In partnership with the UAL LGBTQ+ Staff Network and LCC, we invite staff and students to an informative talk with award-winning speaker and campaigner, Jude Guaitamacchi.

As the first non-binary model for Harrods Beauty, this talk with Jude will cover 'LGBTQIA+ and Trans+ Resilience in a Divided World.' 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

🟢 20th February, 10am to 4pm - LCF Pop Up Stall

Students and staff will have the opportunity to interact with the many creative activities and exhibitions on board the Big Queer Bus. The LCF Pop Up Stall will be held in the reception area from 10am to 4pm.

🔵 27th February, 6pm until late - LGBTQ+ History Month - Queer Icons Ball, Royal Vauxhall Tavern

It's time to dress up as your favourite queer icons for a chance to win Iconic prize! We are lucky enough to be hosting an exclusive student night at the famous and historic Royal Vauxhall Tavern, to conclude the LGBTQ+ History Month celebrations! 🏳️‍🌈🥳🪩

🔴 9th March, 11am to 2pm - Big Queer Walk, Abney Park

Join us for a spring awakening at Abney Park Cemetery! Discover LGBTQIA+ icons and hidden histories while we welcome warmer days among the blooming flowers 🌸✨

🟣  1st February, 6:30pm to 10pm - Pride in History: LGBTQ+ Movie Screening Night – Portland House*

Join us to celebrate LGBTQ+ resilience through film, community, and shared reflection on our history together at Portland House. Free snacks and refreshments will be provided. 🍿 

🔴 6th February, 6:30 to 8:30pm - LGBTQ+ History Month Film Screening: “Paris is Burning” - Glassyard Building*

Come along to Glassyard Building for a special screening of the iconic documentary Paris Is Burning. 🎥🏳️‍🌈

🟠 Betty and Joans Queer Comedy Club

Head along to Betty & Joans’ for a night of laughs during LGBTQ+ History Month. Owned by local queer people, they have plenty of LGBTQ+ stand-up comedy shows happening this month.

🟡  Queer Theatre

Queer Theatre is dedicated to telling authentic LGBTQIA+ stories without shame.

From Acting Classes to Pizza and Movie Nights, to a showcase of Queer Actors and Writers, QT is offering a range of LGBTQIA+ friendly events this month.

🟢 National Queer Students Day, UK - 5th February

This is the first national awareness day in the UK dedicated to amplifying the voices of LGBTQ+ students and early career professional.

This year’s theme is ‘Queer Power’ and can be interpreted in multiple ways. 

They are hosting an online event on the day. Join QSD founder Steve Keith on an exclusive FREE virtual workshop for young LGBTQ+ people, designed to help you communicate more effectively.  Sign up here. 📝🗣️

🔵 8th February, 12pm to 5pm – ParaPride Marking History 2025 Event, Hoxton Hall

Join ParaPride at Hoxton Hall for their annual event for LGBTQ+ History Month 2025. ParaPride will be marking history by presenting an incredible event in celebration of the powerful disabled community.

🟠 The Art of Trans Joy Competition 

The Art of Trans Joy has been created by UAL in collaboration with Trans in the City, The British LGBTQ+ Awards and Gallagher Insurance.

Students are invited to create a work that celebrates trans joy and allyship through their chosen artistic medium, showcasing their talents to a wider audience.

You have until 6pm, Friday 25 April, to submit your artwork. Find out more on how to submit your artwork – good luck!
