Pastry Chef Sharon's recipe
Try your hand at baking with these simple yet delicious sugar cookies by following Sharon's recipe - our very own Pastry Chef based at London College of Fashion, East Bank!
INGREDIENTS
- 227g unsalted butter - softened
- 200g granulated sugar
- 375g plain flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
METHOD
- Beat softened butter and sugar for 2-3 minutes till light and creamy.
- Add the egg and vanilla and beat for another minute.
- Sift the flour and baking powder together in a separate bowl.
- Add the flour slowly to the mixture and blend until all of the flour is mixed in, the mixture will form into a soft dough.
- Lightly flour a board, take half of the mixture and use your hands to softly form into a smooth ball. Roll out to your desired thickness - about 1/4 inch or less for a more crispy cookie.
- Cut into shapes and place on a lined baking tray.
- Place in a preheated oven of 175ºC or 155ºF fan oven and bake for 9–11 minutes. The cookies are baked when the edges are lightly golden and pale in the centre.
- Remove from the oven and cool down in the fridge before icing.
