Every resident plays a vital role in reducing our environmental impact and carbon footprint across our residential community. While individual actions may seem small, when adopted by all residents, they create significant positive change for our planet's future. πβ»οΈ
The following actions are practical steps that every resident can easily incorporate into their daily routine.
Embrace these energy-conscious habits, so we can transform our halls into a model of environmental responsibility that contributes to the fight against climate change.
Sustainability reminders π‘
Help us manage energy use across our halls by doing these simple switches:
π Switching off lights when you leave the room
π Unplugging devices when not in use
π Not overloading sockets or using unapproved extensions
π Reporting any faulty appliances or switches to the maintenance team
Separate waste correctly
By separating waste properly, we can:
π Reduce our environmental impact.
π Increase our recycling
π Support UALβs wider sustainability goals
π Find out more about correct waste separation at your hall.
Grab pre-loved items moving in. Donate them moving out
π In September, we run a Re-use Fair in halls where you can pick up pre-loved goods from last years students. From kitchen essentials to study materials, there are plenty of things you can grab for free to avoid buying new.
π When you move out of halls, make sure to donate what you no longer need to continue the re-use cycle! This couldn't be easier to do with Donation Cafe's running during June and July for you to drop off items.
