Following our 2026 UAL Catering X KeepCup Earth Week competition, we are thrilled to unveil the winning design - now officially printed and available to purchase exclusively at Chelsea café!
Check out the winning KeepCup, Creative Commute ⬇️
Let's dive deeper into the story behind the design with the artist themselves!
We caught up with the winning artist to talk about the inspiration behind their design, Creative Commute, the feeling of seeing their art in fellow students' hands and what belonging at UAL means to them.
Meet the designer 🥤
Designed by a fellow UAL student, Aishaanya Joshi, who is studying Graphic Design and Communication at Chelsea College of Arts, this limited-edition KeepCup combines everyday sustainability with the spirit of our creative community. By choosing reusable, you're not only reducing single-waste but you will be actively carrying and celebrating student art.
Why did you choose to take part in the UAL Catering and KeepCup competition?
"I joined the KeepCup competition mostly because it seemed like a fun way to express my ideas outside of coursework and create something for creatives who are also coffee lovers. I was curious to see how my illustrations would have an opportunity to come to life and enjoyed having the freedom to design with limited requirements, since we don’t often get projects with such creative freedom. I also wanted to create something that would bring a smile to people on the greyest of days in London."

"Creative Commute is an illustration inspired by the quiet comfort of being surrounded by other creatives. It captures that small moment of recognition you get on a crowded tube or busy bus: catching a glimpse of someone else's sketchbook or spotting a UAL tote across the carriage and instantly feeling part of the same world.
The black-and-white style keeps the piece unfiltered, symbolic, and full of character, letting every personality exist equally within the scene, no one figure louder than the next. Printing it on a coffee cup makes it a playful everyday reminder that creativity is shared, expressive, and something we grow through together, even in the small five minutes it takes to queue for your coffee."
"I can hardly believe my work will be on a cup. It might seem like a small thing, but for a budding designer, seeing your art out there, especially at your own university, is huge. It’s a powerful push to keep creating, and what I make can actually connect with people, not just live in a portfolio. And with UAL tote bags on the way, I’m thrilled to imagine my coffee cup design travelling across London with the very creatives it was made for."
"The main goal of my illustration was to remind fellow creatives that they're part of a community so full of life and diversity, and sharing that with my own students at UAL feels incredibly fulfilling. Knowing that my fellow students will be holding the cup, seeing a piece of my work in their hands as they move through their day, makes me feel proud and deeply connected to the community I made it for."
"I hope students take away the message that a creative community is full of diversity and accepts everybody, no matter where you come from, your age, the makeup you wear, or the clothes you choose to put on that day.
When I first arrived at UAL, I felt uncertain and out of place, unsure if I would be accepted. But I quickly found myself at home among people who looked so different yet understood each other completely. That sense of warmth and belonging is what I wanted this illustration to share. If even one student feels seen and accepted while holding this cup, then my design has done its job."
