Being sustainable doesn't have to be difficult. These 5 eco-friendly items will not only help the planet but will last the entire year (if not your entire student journey!) while saving you some cash along the way. 

Tote bag 🛍

Whether you want to use them day-to-day for your study essentials or need a reusable bag for your weekly grocery shop, a tote bag can come in handy for lots of things.

Plastic bags from supermarkets can cost up to 30p each and this can quickly add up. Save yourself some pennies by using your tote bag for all of your fresh produce.

Reusable coffee cups ☕️

Want to keep your drink hot for longer? Use a reusable coffee cup. 

Want to have your morning coffee on the tube? Use a reusable coffee cup. 

Want to save money at uni? Use a reusable coffee cup.

Reusable water bottles💧

Getting a reusable water bottle is probably one of the easiest ways to make a sustainable change, and are great on and off campus. Reusable and sturdy, our Bottle Up water bottles are made from renewable plant-based plastic like sugar cane are a great choice and you can find them in our canteens and cafés. 

Staying hydrated whilst studying is so important, you can find water points around your college and we have taps available in our canteens for a regular top up. 

China plates 🍽

In all of our canteens, we provide china mugs and plates and metal cutlery as the standard for dining in. Although we encourage the use of these, we do also offer takeaway options that are also sustainable. 

Our takeaway bio boxes are made from 100% recycled materials like paper and cardboard which are biodegradable, recyclable and compostable and takeaway cutlery is made from sustainable forest wood. 

Metal straws 🥤

Don't like using paper straws as a sustainable alternative? Made with high quality stainless steel, metal straws are made to last. They can also be really affordable, like this pack of four for £2.95 and will look great with your KeepCup!

The straws in our canteens are made from rice, tapioca and naturally derived colourings and can break down fully in 3 weeks, so whether you choose to bring your own metal straw or use ours, you know that you're drinking sustainably.
