Here's an overview of workshops for the Art of Drag event

We are thrilled to offer in Jan for creative workshops for our students to learn and immerse themselves in the Art of Drag. 

This course consists of 4x workshops and a final showcase and is open to all who want to learn the art of drag, and give something new a go for January! 

These workshops will be delivered by professional artists and drag performers, and is open to all who want to learn how to become a drag queen, a drag king, and anything and everything in between. 💅

Please note - a £40 refundable deposit will be required for those wanting to complete the whole course.

If you will be attending all 4 sessions you will receive the full deposit after the Final Showcase date.

One of our fabulous Drag Queen's, Eileen, and Halls Life student wellbeing coordinator, Marco Bodi, will be at Sketch House on Friday 10th January from 3pm, if you wish to speak with them more about this course.

You can also sign up to any of the individual workshops for £5 each, if you do not want to commit to the whole course. This £5 will not be refundable though. 😌

Here's a summary of the rundown of the workshops to get you excited for a month of Drag!

1. Confidence Workshop 🪩

Date/time: Thursday 16th January from 5:30pm (props and material provided)

Location: UAL Sketch House 

Duration: 3 hours

Overview: Become more confident with your persona and your skills. On this session, a checklist for following weeks will be provided to you. This first session is more to provide students with a 121 support from the teacher and understand more each step of the course, set objectives and goals.

2. Make Up Workshop 💋

Date/time: Thursday 23rd January from 5:30pm (material available but free to bring your own)

Location: UAL Sketch House 

Duration: 3/4 hours

Overview: Learn, practice with make up skills. Some make up material will be provided, but is also recommended to bring your own one if you're looking to use more specific products.

3. Talent Discovery Workshop 🥳

Date/time: Thursday 30th January from 5:30pm

Location: UAL Sketch House 

Duration: 3/4 hours

Overview: This session is for you to understand and get confident with your skills more in depth, and prepare yourself for the Showcase.

4. Costume Design and Rehearsal 💃🏽

Date/time: Sunday the 2nd February from 1pm

Location: UAL Sketch House 

Duration: 3/4 hours

Overview: The Costume Design and Rehearsal will focus teaching the elements of putting together an outfit for the stage and getting you ready (if you decide to) to perform on stage at the final showcase.

5. Final Showcase 🎭

Date/time: Tuesday 4th of February from 5pm 

Location: The Rising - Elephant and Castle

Duration: 4 hours

Overview: It's show time! Take your hard-earned new skills and show them off the stage at the final showcase.

*You do not need to perform the final showcase if you just wish to attend the workshops only.
