Every term we host a range of cultural celebrations and special events from themed menus to pop-ups. See what's coming up in our canteens each week so you don't miss a thing:
Check out some of our favourite memories and celebrations in our canteens and look forward to more this year!👇
Black History Month
As a tribute to Black History Month, we served some smoky, spicy and aromatic themed dishes so our students could get a taste of home or try something new. Think South African Bobotie, New Orleans Gumbo, Halal Ethiopian Chicken and fruit punch.
Diwali with the UAL Indian Society
With the help of the UAL Indian Society, we brought not only a special biryani feast pop-up to our canteens - featuring mint raita, chutney and naan bread - but also a colourful rangoli challenge to get everyone involved and celebrating!
Lunar New Year
Another opportunity to celebrate an important holiday for our diverse students, we entered the Year of the Horse with bold, flavourful bowls. Our themed menu featured delicious vermicelli rice noodles topped with tender bulgogi, steamed rice rolls and chicken dumplings served in comforting coconut broth.
Winter festivities
Then we started the festive feels early by serving up not one, but two special winter menus. The first being a classic German-inspired Bratwurst Market pop-up with plenty of toppings, sauces and sides to start spreading the cheer. And we couldn't finish the end of term without a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings!
Not to mention more exclusive, themed menus like our colourful Holi specials including dishes like Papdi Chaat and Indian Thali, and our St. Patrick's Day dishes.
We've also been visited by some very special guests...
Vietnamese chef, Thuy
From cooking up exclusive dishes available on the menu for one day only to hosting a masterclass session, it was great to see esteemed chef Thuy in action. Serving up comforting noodle bowls, her skill and passion lit up the kitchen at Central Saint Martins!
Plant-based chef, Bettina Campolucci
We have previously had the pleasure of Bettina's Kitchen visiting our kitchens, showing students the beauty of plant-based food! One of our favourite events was when she treated everyone to a delicious festive feast, featuring a plant roast, BIG mince pie and her take on a plant-based sausage roll.
And we have much more tasty events to come! Stay in the know with what's on by checking our food page and following us on Instagram @ualcatering 🗓️
