Why eat seasonally?

  • Better taste: Seasonal produce is harvested at peak ripeness, meaning it's fresher and tastier than out-of-season imports. Pesticides and chemicals are usually used to preserve unseasonal ingredients, so the quicker they get to your plate the better. 
  • Better for the planet: These intensive farming methods also use a lot of resources and come with huge carbon footprints, increased further by flying in out-of-season produce overseas. 
  • Better for local farmers: If you're buying your fresh ingredients locally they you're helping sustain the agricultural industry and rural communities.
  • Better for your wallet: Seasonal fruits and veggies tend to be more affordable because there is more of them.
