Signal House is in the vibrant Wimbledon neighbourhood — the perfect base for exploring everything this corner of south-west London has to offer, from independent cafés and leafy green spaces to a town centre packed with shops and restaurants.
1. Explore Wimbledon Common 🌳
Wimbledon Common has acres of open countryside waiting for you to enjoy. It's the perfect spot to relax away from the hustle and bustle of central London. With extensive trails to explore the woodlands, heathlands and ponds, this is the perfect spot for a long stroll. You can even join complimentary community walks hosted by the commons, including guided walks led by staff and local experts. Find out more.
2. Fancy a coffee? ☕️
Visit The Chunky Pigeon for a hot drink or a quick bite to eat. Just a 5-minute walk from Signal House, this cafe has yummy homemade cookies baked fresh in-store and a great selection of drinks to enjoy.
3. Enjoy the shops in Wimbledon Village 🛍
Withing walking distance from Signal House, Wimbledon Village is worth an explore. The high street is lined with independent shops, cosy cafés and great restaurants. It's perfect for a leisurely brunch, a coffee catch-up with flatmates, or treating yourself after a week of lectures.
4. Visit village-style pubs 🍻
Hand in Hand is a popular pub in a 19th-century cottage. It's located right on the edge of the common and dates back to 1831 when it was originally a bakery. Now, they serve beers and traditional food, including Sunday roasts and pies. Crooked Billet is another great pub next door, with a country feel and seasonal British food.
5. Get a ticket for The Championships 🎾
Living near Wimbledon means one thing: you have no excuse not to experience The Championships. Held every summer in late June and early July, it's one of the most iconic sporting events in the world, and it's basically on your doorstep. Apply for tickets through the public ballot in the autumn, or brave the Queue on the day for last-minute entry.
