Congratulations to the Halls Life team for winning at the Queer Student Awards (QSA), an annual event that champions talented LGBTQ+ people.
QSA is the UK's first annual celebration of young LGBTQ+ people and their communities. Our team headed to Manchester for the ceremony and came home winners! They took home the Community Initiative award for their 12 Hours of Queer London Magic event, held this LGBTQ+ History Month! 🎉
About the 12 Hours of Queer London Magic Event:
This February, the Halls Life team supported queer venues and brought students together for a day of queer art, culture, community and joy. 🏳️⚧️💖
The Head Judge described the event as "ambitious and impactful," bringing together "over 400 LGBTQIA+ students across London."
By "collaborating with 12 university halls and partnering with LGBTQIA+ venues and organisations," the initiative tackled isolation and strengthened students' sense of belonging, while the chosen venues "highlighted important queer spaces and histories" and ensured accessibility.
The judge praised its lasting impact, noting it created "a sustainable legacy of inclusion, celebration, and cultural preservation."
