Hi! My name is Freyja, and I am a first-year student studying Fashion Communication and Promotion at Central Saint Martins.
I currently live at Sketch House in Finsbury Park and absolutely love the area and am here to tell you a bit about some of my favourite places!
Whether shopping, going out or eating takes your fancy, there’s plenty for everyone to do in Finsbury Park.
1. Finsbury Park Picturehouse 🎥
One of my favorite things about living at Sketch House is the super cute cinema that is just a 2-minute walk from Sketch House!
Finsbury Park Picturehouse is a small cinema that has the latest films but also shows independent art films too.
They do student discounts on all tickets, as well as you being able to sign up for the Under 25 membership for free where you can get tickets for under £5!
While you are en-route to the cinema you can pick up some snacks at the local Nisa corner store next door, that’s open till midnight every night!
2. The Plimsoll 🍔
Voted one of the best cheeseburgers in London, Plimsoll is a trendy pub that offers unreal food and has a great pub atmosphere. And it is just an 8-minute walk from Sketch House.
3. Someday Finsbury Park 🍻🎶
Margaritas, Aperol Spritz, pizza by the slice, tacos and more... Someday is a music bar located by Finsbury Park station which is just a 3-minute walk from Sketch House.
Someday has 25% off for students all year around too! 🤩
4. Tonkotsu Finsbury Park 🍜
If you like ramen, Tonkotsu is the place for you!
Located just a 4-minute walk from Sketch House, this is a great little spot to go to with flat mates or by yourself, if you ever feel like treating yourself to some super tasty Ramen!
5. Yard Sale Pizza 🍕
A cool & casual spot offering dine-in/delivery wood fire pizzas.
Only an 8-minute walk from Sketch House, it’s a great option to go with friends/flatmates. They often do deals too to keep your eye on!
6. Honest Burger 🍔
Just a 4-minute walk from Sketch House, Honest Burgers is the perfect restaurant to go to with friends or to get a takeaway burger and chips after a busy day! And they also have veggie options.
7. Crisis Charity Shop 🛍
If you like vintage shopping then you are definitely in luck!
Out of the many charity shops I have been to so far in London, the Crisis Charity Shop in Finsbury Park is by far the best! It always has amazing hidden gems and is located less than a minute away from Sketch House.
There is also a lovely cafe and seating area in the charity shop too!
8. Finsbury Park 🚶🏻♀️🍃
Living at Sketch House means you have one of London’s biggest parks right on your doorstep (literally).
It’s great for going on walks with friends, picnics in spring and summer as well as there being an abundance of tennis and basketball courts plus skate parks.
There is also the WirelessMusic Festival that takes place every summer at the start of July in Finsbury Park!
9. Pizza Pilgrims 🍕
Neapolitan pizza alongside great beers and retro arcade games.
Pizza Pilgrims is located on Seven Sisters Road, just a 5-minute walk from Sketch House. They also do student discounts.
10. Finsbury Park Theatre 🎭
While moving to London will allow you to go and see live shows at the West End, you will also have your own little Wend End on your doorstep with the “Park Theatre”.
Being just a 4-minute walk from Sketch House, this neighbourhood theatredelivers world class theatre, collaborating with the new and emerging talent on stage and behind the scenes.
