5 ideas to decorate your halls bedroom

Home is where my art is!

Sustainable, creative and affordable ideas for decorating your halls bedroom

Making your room feel like home is a great way to feel settled in halls.✨

Just because you can't put things up on your walls, there is still so much potential to decorate my room.

Here are some ways you can put your stamp on the place without risking your deposit.

1. Plants! 🪴

We recommend succulents, herbs like Basil and Parsley (edible too), and other low maintenance ones like "money plants". Make a trip one Sunday morning to Columbia Road Flower Market and grab a bargain on all sorts of green friends.

You can upcycle some old cans, jars or mugs as plant pots or even make your own.

2. Decorate your notice board ✏️

The notice board is your holy canvas. The good old pinboard has so much more potential than holding notes and timetables.

Turn it into a polaroid wall, collage artwork or cover it with a tapestry to change the look altogether.

3. Visit charity shops to give homewear a second life

You can find lots of pre-loved treasures at charity shops. From trinkets and ceramics to storage baskets and crockery.

Plus, if you’re trying to make your space feel cosy on a budget, second-hand finds are often better quality than the cheaper options you’d get elsewhere. Better for the environment and the bank account!

4. D.I.Y Decor 🎨

Fill your space with your art! Whatever you've been working on, pin it on your notice board or display it on your shelves. Filling your space with handmade work will truly make it feel like your own.

When the seasons change, celebrate with handmade décor - think paper chains, crochet pumpkins, clay ornaments, or anything crafted from materials you want to give a second life. It’s also a lovely activity to do with your flatmates!

You could also visit independent markets around London to support local artists and add some more hand-crafted charm to your space.

5. Little Lights 💡

The last but definitely a must – FAIRY LIGHTS. One cannot simply go wrong with these little bulbs of happiness.

Get some battery operated lights in different colours, or shapes of your choice. Hang them over the shelves, windows, or over a nice long mirror.

You can also put your fairylights in upcycled glass bottles or jars to create a little lamp.

These are just suggestions, but the stage is yours to explore.
