Dyslexia services to help students studying at UAL

Here's how UAL best supports students living with dyslexia

Struggling with a Special Learning Difference can make studying at university difficult - it can create added stress and pressure to an already intense period of change.

One of the many advantages of studying at UAL is students' access to free testing and SpLD support. The Disability Service Department provides screening for Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

The process to access the free testing is simple:

1. Fill in a Request Form

2. Await confirmation of your appointment from

3. Once you have placed a request, you can expect an online Screening (30-40 Minutes) where a Tutor will ask about your learning experiences.

4. Following the Screening, you may be asked to attend a formal Diagnostics Testing (3 Hours) online or in person or to talk further with a Disability Adviser to set up adjustments and support. If offered a Diagnostics Test, you should expect a report upon completion that will be shared with UAL.

*Please note that the Disability Service cannot medically diagnose autism.

In addition to formal support and adjustments, if eligible the Disability Services can provide assistive software, specialist equipment, and travel stipends.

UAL is here to help, don’t struggle in silence, request a screening today and begin getting the support you deserve.

Externally, The Dyslexia Association provides screenings and grants to students in Higher Education. In addition, they provide Assistive Technology Training, Specialist Study Skills, and further Diagnostic testing (if required).

We also offer other forms of support at UAL for disabled and diverse learners.
