Halls fridges: free food, less waste, more support

Posted 2 months ago

Why you should be using the community fridges in your hall!

Did you know that the UK wastes approximately 9.52 million tonnes of food every year?*

Sharing meals with your new roommates goes beyond socializing... it's a powerful way to minimise waste and foster a sense of community in your living space. 🏡🌿

This is why we have installed community fridges in our UAL Halls to encourage students to share more and waste less. ♻️🗑️

Perhaps you have extra food you don’t want? Drop it in our shared fridge for others to enjoy. Or if you’re hungry, please help yourself to anything in there - it’s all up for grabs! 🤤

For the Christmas period on Monday 23rd December the fridges will be filled up with the following free products by your Halls Life committee:

  • Vegetables
  • Fruits
  • Breakfast items
  • Yogurts
  • Porridge pots
  • Sweet treats 😋

✅ Types of food encouraged to add to a community fridge ✅

• Unopened, unwanted food welcome

• Vegetarian and vegan items only

• Must be within best before date

⚠️ Please note, foods in here may contain ⚠️

 • Milk

• Eggs

• Wheat

• Soy

• Tree nuts

• Peanuts

UAL Halls community fridges are overseen by Halls Committees. Join this simple yet impactful initiative to fight food waste in your residence! 💪
