Spots that everyone should visit in Elephant & Castle

I'm Ingrid and I've been living at the Highline Building for two years now. Here's a list of places you should visit nearby.

1. Enjoy delicious pizza and drinks 🍕🍹

Four Hundred Rabbits is one of my personal favourite places to visit with friends for lunch or dinner. Conveniently just a 5-minute walk from the Highline Building, the pizzeria is located on Ash Avenue at Elephant Park. 

The restaurant offers great deals on drinks and food throughout the year.

2. Fancy a coffee? ☕️

Sidecar Coffee Bar is quite literally around the corner from the building. 

Sidecar is my go-to spot for a coffee on my way to class or if I just want to sit down for brunch with a friend and study. 

With 10% off for students, my usual order consists of an oat milk latte and a slice of avocado toast. 🤤

3. Visit the SoLo Craft Fair shop 🛍

Located on the North side of Elephant Park, SoLo Craft Fair is an independent gift shop which hosts over 60 small businesses selling fashion, art, homeware, etc.

SoLo Craft Fair is perfect for art students who want to experience retail by selling their products, as the shop provides an opportunity for small entrepreneurs to apply and be part of their shop to grow and establish their businesses.

4. Become a plant parent 🌼🍃

Spending all day in your room can get a little stuffy, not to mention the London air quality isn't the greatest. 

The Nunhead Gardener is the perfect store to purchase specialty plants to brighten up your room. The shop is located on Sayer Street near Elephant Park, a 2-minute walk from Highline.

I have signed up to their Loyalty Card & Reward Programme, with 1 Point = 1p when redeemed against any of my future purchases.

5. Southwark Heritage Centre & Walworth Library 📚

For a change of location or when I don’t want to go to campus to study, I usually go to the Walworth Library, just a 2-minute walk across the road from Highline, located on Walworth Road. 

The space is a combined library and a historic centre which is furnished with artworks and artefacts. You don’t need to be a member to spend time inside browsing or studying, however I recommend joining the library and getting the free membership card so that you can borrow books and use their computers.
