Join us for an Intro to BSL and Deaf Awareness webinar🧏🏼

This BSL Introduction and Deaf Awareness online session offers a practical and welcoming introduction to British Sign Language alongside an exploration of Deaf culture, identity, and inclusive communication. 🧏🏽‍♀️

The session is designed to build confidence in basic signing, increase awareness of everyday barriers faced by deaf people, and encourage more accessible and respectful interactions in social, academic, and professional settings.

Interactive and beginner-friendly, the workshop is suitable for anyone interested in improving their communication skills and understanding of Deaf Awareness.

"The session will be run by Claire, who is deaf herself, has worked within diversity and inclusion roles for over 20 years. She has extensive experience working with deaf and deaf blind people across various sectors, including education and social care. Now the Deputy CEO of the charity Enhance the UK, she works with organisations nationwide to support their inclusion efforts. She is passionate about accessibility, loves colour, and enjoys travelling and experiencing new things."

The session will be an hour long, but I suggest we allow an extra 15 minutes to allow for questions or people asking for signs they would really like to know. This session will also be recorded.

From an access point of view we always encourage people to turn their cameras on if possible, but for this format wouldn't make a big issue of it if a few people had theirs off.
