Hall-ternative Showcase

By UALHalls 18 Apr 2023

From this year, we are introducing the ‘Hall’-ternative Showcase! 🎨

This event will give you the opportunity to showcase pieces of art that you have been working on either academically or personally over the course of the year. Your art piece, should you choose to enter the showcase, will be available for all to see throughout the month of June in your halls of residence.

A small pot of funding will be available that you can bid into to support you with your showcase. This will need to meet a certain criteria and is not guaranteed. This showcase is only open to UAL students currently living in halls of residence.

We are accepting a variety of submissions, from materials artworks to performances and all other formats.

Your family and friends will also be welcome to join you and other students exhibiting during the Private Open Night Event, on the 2nd of June!

To register your interest all you have to do is to fill out the form by the 23rd April and submit sketches, technical drawings and concept boards to here4u@arts.ac.uk .

The deadline for your final submission of work will be the 15th May.

We look forward to reading your submissions and displaying your work in your halls of residence.

Criteria to consider when applying for the showcase:

  • Be able to submit the material artefact on time (by the 15th of May).
  • Be available to collect the piece after the showcase (1st of July).
  • Have the material artefact/piece of work available to be displayed in your hall for the whole-time (2nd of June - 30th of June).
  • Any non-material form of art (acting, singing, dancing, etc) can be performed during the Open Night Event (2nd of June).
  • Be able to submit full description, inspiration and research of the piece on time (by the 23rd of April).
  • Consider respect for any race, gender, identity.
  • All submissions will be screened by a mixture of student reps and staff from the accommodation team. Students must understand that changes may be required to be applied to the original submission (ex. Doesn’t fit the space, not respectful of others, etc).
