Decorating lanterns for Ramadan!
Add this event to your calendar
Ramadan Mubarak! π
We are gathering at Archwood House to break fast after sunset and to decorate lanterns with crafts for Ramadan π
Ramadan is a holy month for the Muslim community wordwide to get together with their friends and family to fast, reflect and pray. The crescent will reappear and mark the commencement of the blessed month of Ramadan which is from March 22 to April 21 (2023).
This signifies a period of introspection and communal prayer, which is obseved by fasting the entire day and breaking fast after dawn. This practise is thought to teach self-discipline and compassion for those suffering from hunger.
Many muslims also attempt to read the whole of the Qur'an at least once during Ramadan. They attend special services in Mosques during which the Qur'an is read.
The end of Ramadan is marked by a big celebration called 'Eid ul-Fitr' (the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast). Muslims donβt only celebrate the end of fasting, but thank God for the strength he gave them throughout the previous month.
To celebrate this time of Ramadan, we're gathering at Archwood House to break fast with dates, special biscuits, Kahk cookies and sweet treats along with a lantern decorating activity. There will be paint pens and other craft materials to decorate wooden lanterns. You're welcome to join whether you're celebrating or not! π¨ππͺ
