Meet the Team - Nigel
Hi, I'm Nigel and I'm the Group Residence Manager for our Partner halls. These include Don Gratton House, Furzedown Student Village and Manna Ash House. I also look after Glassyard and Highline.
I was born in Bradford and moved to the South East back in 1989.
I joined UAL all the way back in 2008. Before then I was working in social housing, so I have a lot of experience in working with local authorities and housing associations. An interesting fact that people may not know about me is I'm actually a trained Philosopher too!
I love all aspects of my job, but especially working with my team, anything related to buildings, laws and other operational things - yes as you've probably guessed, I'm very technical.
I'm lucky that I get to work in a number of different halls across our portfolio, as it means I see a lot of different students and compare the different buildings - believe it or not, one of the most interesting things I found in a hall was a snake in a box!
If I could offer any advice it would be that UAL's halls are a great place to live and work.
It's easy to get caught-up in what others are doing but focus on your goals and achieve your dreams, remember why you are here.
Have fun and play according to the rules. If you work hard it will be an unforgettable, enjoyable experience!
