Hello, I’m Lloyd and I am the Residence Manager for Will Wyatt Court.
Congratulations on making it into UAL, where I hope you will learn all of the skills to become a great success in whatever it is you decide to become. UAL really is a global community and living in halls is a really unique chance to meet people from all around the world, to make friends, share ideas and get inspired. Who knows, you may end up falling in love with one (or more!) of the people you meet this week.
Making a great first impression on your flat mates is a good place to start, so please make sure that you are sharing the kitchen cupboards and fridges – and that you are cleaning up after yourself. Flats that work together to agree on cleaning, emptying the bins as well as cooking and eating together get on much better and living with people who respect each other’s belongings and personal space makes for a much happier living environment.
Remember, that not everyone in the building is a first year student so if you are having parties or staying up late drinking, please don’t do this in the hall. Living in Shoreditch there are hundreds of interesting, quirky and fun places to experiment, celebrate and party. Get out there and explore!
My favourite part of the job is meeting students and getting to know them; it is you that makes the job fun and worthwhile, so please do take the time to meet everyone who works at your new home.
If you ever have any questions, you can find me by asking at reception. Feel free to drop by with song suggestions, movie news or just for a chat. Or if you need directions to the 24-hour bagel shop on Brick Lane.
