University of London Housing Services (ULHS) is a department of the University of London. They are the largest student housing service in London and work very closely with UAL’s very own Private Accommodation Advisor.
They also have a database where landlords and agents advertise accommodation for students.
Take a look at the Private Housing Guide 2019 to find out more about living in private rented accommodation.
What do they do:
- Help you find accommodation They have registration schemes for private landlords, letting agents, private halls and other providers of private accommodation for students and staff. These accommodation providers advertise their properties and rooms on their online database and in other sections of their website.
- Contract checking They can give you guidance on what to look out for and to do when you are renting privately and check the contract for unfair clauses, which may cause you problems in your accommodation.
- Legal Advice Their experienced Housing Advice Team is dedicated to supporting students and central University of London staff who experience problems in private accommodation and offer advice on a range of issues including deposit disputes, disrepair and problems with letting agents.
- Events They run a selection of events for students, landlords and those working in student accommodation. This includes housing talks and advice sessions within colleges, training courses and forums, flatmate finder events and an annual Housing Fair in May, which supports students who are searching for private accommodation for the following academic year.
The ULHS team are available from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. You can contact them by email or call +44(0)20 7862 8880.
